Mariners Improve Spring Training Record Vs. San Francisco Giants
The Seattle Mariners improves their 2021 Cactus League record in Spring Training tonight (March 18) to 6-7-5 against the San Francisco Giants.
Powered by five doubles accounting for over half of their eight hits in the game, the M's topped the Giants 6-3. Seattle rallied for four runs in the top of the sixth inning after trailing 3-2.
The barrage of double included two by Kyle Lewis -- his third and fourth of the spring -- as well as Ty France 3), Jack Reinheimer (1) and former San Diego Padre Taylor Trammell (5).
Justin Dunn started the game on the hill for the Mariners and went 2 2/3 innings while surrendering 3 runs on just one base hit while striking out 3 and issuing 3 bases on balls. He received a no-decision. Nick Margevicius (1-0) came out of the bullpen to hurl four scoreless frames and allowed just one hit to record his first win of the exhibition campaign.
Erik Swanson closed out the game pitching a scoreless ninth inning while allowing just one safety.
Seattle has just nine games remaining on the Cactus League schedule before opening the 2021 MLB season at T-Mobile park in Seattle against the same San Fran club. The Mariners next action is Friday (March 19) in Peoria against the Chicago White Sox. First pitch is slated for 6:40 p.m. and will be televised on ROOT Sports.
