Last night, the Mariners simply didn't have enough Kyles to keep up with the Houston Astros in a 5-2 loss as both namesakes Seager and Lewis both hit home runs. Tonight (April 27) only one Kyle collected the measly two hits that Seattle mustered in a 2-0 loss despite another very, very solid starting pitching performance by tough-luck loser Marco Gonzales.

Gonzales only surrendered 5 hits in 6 innings pitched against a stout Astros lineup back at full strength. Houston strung a couple of hits together in the 4th inning to score twice for the only runs plated in the game. Gonzales lost for the third time already this year.

The only offense that the recently struggling Mariners' batting order could muster was by the streaking third baseman Kyle Seager. In his last 9 games, the North Carolinian has gone 9 for 20 with 3 doubles, one triple and 2 homers.

Besides being the only Mariners batter to collect even a single base hit, the veteran Seager held down the "hot corner" with this web gem.

The Mariners look to win their first game of the four-game series at Minute Maid Park tomorrow (April 28) night when Justin Dunn toes the rubber for the M's. Dunn enters the game with a 1-0 record in 2021 and a 3.68 Earned Run Average. He will definitely have to pitch as solidly as Gonzales did in tonight's loss, however, for Seattle to have a fighter's chance as Seattle's bats have turned cold and things won't get any better when they face former Cy Young Award winner Zach Greinke for the second time already this year.
