SEATTLE (AP) — A senior-laden team from Washington State erased 67 years of heartache with one magical season 20 years ago that ended in the school's first Rose Bowl berth since before World War II. The clincher came on a dreary November day in Seattle that concluded with fans in crimson and gray storming the Husky Stadium turf.

Two decades later, the stakes are similar. It's not the Rose Bowl on the line, but a win by No. 14 Washington State on Saturday would give the Cougars the Pac-12 North title.

This year's Apple Cup will again be decided at Husky Stadium, where kickoff is set for 5 p.m. between the Cougars (6-2 in Pac-12 play, 9-2 overall) and the 15th-ranked Huskies (6-2 conference, 9-2 overall). If WSU wins, the Cougs take the North crown outright -- they beat second-place Stanford earlier in the season. UW, on the other hand, lost to Stanford, so if the Huskies win, the division title goes to the Cardinal.

It'll be the 110th meeting between the two rivals -- Washington leads the overall series 71-32. There have been six ties.

1460 ESPN Yakima will offer live coverage of the game starting with a 3 p.m. pregame program.
