From White Swan to Sunnyside, and Selah to Moxee, area boys and girls basketball teams are gearing up for the first round of the WIAA State Basketball tournaments kicking off tomorrow.

Here's a rundown of who's in, when and where they play, and how they got there:

1B Boys - Spokane Arena
#1-seed Sunnyside Christian Knights has a first round bye after defeating Almira Coulee Hartline 55-36 in Yakima last Friday. They await the winner of the #7 Tacoma Baptist vs. #10 Naselle tilt. They'll first hit the hardwood this Thursday in Spokane at 10:30 a.m.

The fourth-seeded privately run Yakama Nation Tribal Eagles also must wait until Thursday to play after disposing of #5 Pomeroy 56-50 in regional play to advance. They'll take on the winner of the Tulalip Heritage (#11) Cedar Park Christian (#3) and tip-off Thursday morning at 9:00 a.m.

1B Girls - Spokane Arena
Sunnyside Christian's girls, seeded #4, pounded Mount Vernon Christian 62-31 last Friday to gain a first round bye. They'll be the "home" team on Thursday afternoon at 3:45 p.m. against the winner of #6 Selkirk who takes on #14 Yakama Nation Tribal. The Lady Eagles made it to the final pool of 12 teams by topping Rainier Christian 64-36.

2B Boys - Spokane Arena
The White Swan Cougars (#15) squeaked by Tri-Cities Prep in a game played at Chiawana High School last Saturday 63-59 to punch their ticket to state. They open up tomorrow evening in Spokane at 5:30 p.m. against #7 Toutle Lake.

2B Girls - Spokane Arena
The sixth-seeded Lady Cougars, also representing White Swan at state, lost to #3 Wahkiakum 63-56 on Friday but still advanced. They are the home team against #11 Tri-Cities Prep to open they tourney tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m. A rematch with Wahkiakum is possible in the championship round.

1A Boys - Yakima Valley SunDome
The storied boys program at Zillah continues with the Leopards getting a #3 seed after knocking out The Northwest School 69-51 in regional play. Zillah fans won't have far to travel to watch them host the winner of Mount Baker (#12) vs. Bellevue Christian on Thursday afternoon at 12:15 p.m.

1A Girls - Yakima Valley SunDome
The Lady Leopards of Zillah also have a shot to keep the hardware here in the valley by snagging a #4 seed, despite a regional loss to #5 Medical Lake 72-51 in the Davis High gymnasium last Saturday. The Zillah girls play tomorrow night at 7:15 p.m. against #12 Cle Elum-Roslyn. A rematch with Medical is possible in the finals.

2A Boys - Yakima Valley SunDome
Last year's runners-up, the #2 seeded Selah Vikings are looking to knock down the barn door and win a state championship. Their first step was a gritty 75-69 win in regionals against Columbia River. The Viks get a bye before opening play in the SunDome on Thursday night at 9:00 p.m. in a game you can listen to live on 1460 ESPN Yakima. Selah will play host to the victor of the North Kitsap (#9) v. W.F. West (#8) tilt.

2A Girls - Yakima Valley SunDome
Two teams from the valley will be representing but one of them could, possibly, knock out the other. The #13 East Valley Red Devils open play tomorrow afternoon  at 12:15 p.m. against #4 Port Angeles after a 10-point win against Prosser in the regional round. If they advance to the quarterfinals, they will face the sixth-seeded Wapato Wolves on Thursday, again at 12:15 p.m. Wapato shocked #3 Burlington-Edison 58-38 on Saturday to earn a first round bye.

4A Boys - Tacoma Dome
The Davis Pirates (#5) and Sunnyside Grizzlies (#8) will play back-to-back loser-out games tomorrow night in the T-Dome. The Pirates take on Tacoma's Curtis High (#13) at 7:15 p.m. You can hear that game live locally on 1460 ESPN Yakima. A.C. Davis got thumped by Richland (#4) last weekend 86-61, but could extract revenge if the two meet in the finals. Sunnyside, following a 80-44 drubbing at the hands of top-ranked Gonzaga Prep, draws #9 Lewis and Clark immediately following the Davis contest at approximately 9:00 p.m.
