West-leading Lakers Beat Suns 117-107 for 3rd Win in Row

LeBron James had his eighth triple-double of the season, Anthony Davis had 26 points and 11 rebounds, and the Los Angeles Lakers opened the new year with a 117-107 victory over the Phoenix Suns. The West-leading Lakers led by 36 points before the Suns got within seven in the fourth quarter. But James scored eight points down the stretch to preserve a third straight victory. James finished with 31 points, 13 rebounds and 12 assists. Devin Booker led the Suns with 32 points and Kelly Oubre Jr. added 26 points.
