As part of the Seattle Mariners weekend-long celebration of Ken Griffey, Jr.'s induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame almost two weeks ago, "The Kid" kicked-off the first of many tributes by raising a gigantic flag bearing his old jersey number 24 atop the iconic Space Needle earlier today.

Griffey will become the first person in franchise history to have his jersey number retired - not just at the big league level - but throughout the entire organization as well.

The Mariners open a three game series with the Los Angeles Angels tonight and will give away 20,000 bobblehead dolls celebrating Griffey's induction at Cooperstown, NY. Tomorrow night, the team will conduct the official jersey retirement ceremony.
