Tokyo Tries to Quell Fear of Olympic-Paralympic Cancellation
Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic organizers again try to allay fears that the 2020 Games could be postponed or canceled because of the fast-spreading virus from China. Toshiro Muto is the CEO for the games. He says “the Olympics and Paralympics will be held as scheduled." Muto was speaking at a news conference in Tokyo with Paralympics officials. Craig Spence is a spokesman for the International Paralympic Committee. He says “fear is spreading far quicker than the virus.” The Olympics open in just under six months. Japan has confirmed 45 cases but no deaths have been reported in the country.
