Sad news for fans of professional minor league baseball in the Yakima Valley today with the news of the passing of former Yakima Bears Field Manager Mike Bell's passing at the age of 46 due to complications from cancer of the kidneys.

For the first time since 1990, the month of June will not bring professional baseball to the Yakima Valley.

The Yakima Bears are excited to announce that the Official Viewing Party for the team’s first playoff game, live from Boise, will be held at Sports Center in downtown Yakima on Monday night.

On July 19th the Yakima Bears secured a spot in the postseason with a win at Boise. The Bears finished the first half of the season with an East Division best 21-17 record. This will be the first appearance in the playoffs for the Bears since 2010.
