The Yakima Bears defeated the Eugene Emeralds 10-1 Tuesday night at PK Park in Eugene, Oregon. The Emeralds still took the five-game series 3-2, but the Bears also stayed tied for first in the Northwest League’s East Division with a 2-3 record.

The Yakima Bears lost 6-5 in 10 innings in the opening game of the Northwest League season Friday night at PK Park in Eugene, Oregon. The Bears could not overcome Eugene first baseman Clark Murphy, who started the 2012 season by electrifying the 3,569 fans at PK Park.
The 10th annual Yakima Sports Awards Luncheon was held this afternoon at the Yakima Convention Center honoring Yakima Valley teams, athletes and coaches.
I was honored to be able co-host the event with KIMA-TV's Alan Sillence and help to present him with the Fred Redmon Service Award.

The Yakima valley Sports Authority along with the Amateur Athletic Union are now forming teams for a 2012 Summer Basketball League.
The season begins July 9th and runs through the 31st with games scheduled in the evenings Monday through Thursday.
There will be boys and girls divisions for participants in 3rd grade through high school varsity level.
