With Calgary bowing out of the hosting race. The front-runner Milan-Cortina d'Ampezzo bid has received another boost with a funding promise from the Italian government.

The City Council of Calgary put it to vote of the people if they wanted to host the 2026 Winter Olympics. And it received unofficially over 50 % no votes.

Calgary again is thinking of hosting the Olympics. The deadline to submit bids to the IOC nine months away, The city council hasn't decided if it will proceed.
