In their first match defending their 2019 MLS Cup victory, Seattle Sounders FC unfurled their second championship banner preceding their 2020 season opener vs. the Chicago Fire before an estimated 50,000 supporters at CenturyLink Field today.
Prior to the match, as is tradition, fans marched from Pioneer Square hoisting the MLS Cup.
The Sounders opened their season with a thrilling 2-1 comeback win in extra time when Seattle native Jordan Morris netted his second goal off a set piece from the corner in the 92nd minute of the match. Morris also scored the equalizer in the 62nd minute to propel Seattle.
