In a move that makes way too much sense, was a long time coming and, hopefully begins a trend in pro sports, the Seattle Sounders Football Club unveiled their line of secondary uniforms (they're referred to as a "kit", by the way) for the upcoming 2021 and 2022 Major League Soccer seasons.

The new kits feature colors and styling inspired by one of Seattle's favorite native sons - electric guitar legend and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member - the late, great James Marshall "Jimi" Hendrix.

The club made the announcement today (March 25) via a press release and stated that the “Community Kit” line, introduced by MLS this season,  allows "clubs the opportunity to create secondary kits rooted in individual meaning for each team. The Jimi Hendrix Kit was conceived as a way for Sounders FC to not only honor Hendrix and his place as a Seattle icon, but, on a larger scale, to recognize and celebrate the meaningful principles of peace, love and giving for which Hendrix stood."

The Sounders have used Hendrix's rock anthem "All Along the Watchtower" as part of their game day ritual at Sounders home matches at Lumen Field (formerly CentrutyLink Field).
As part of the roll out, Sounders FC also made a "sizzle reel" to unveil the new kits that incorporates live footage of Hendrix performing his signature song "Purple Haze".

The club also announced that they will donate up to $50,000 of proceeds from the sales of both the authentic and replica jerseys to five Seattle-area non-profit organizations.
