SEATTLE (AP) — Erasmo Ramirez beat his former team, combining with four relievers to help the Tampa Bay Rays defeat the Seattle Mariners 2-1 on Thursday night.

Ramirez (4-2), who was traded to the Rays on March 31, held Seattle to one run and seven hits in 5 1/3 innings. He walked one and struck out five. Xavier Cedeno, Brandon Gomes, Jake McGee and Kevin Jepsen gave up three hits and no runs over the final 3 2/3 innings.

Jepsen picked up his second save in four opportunities.

Mark Trumbo, acquired by Seattle in a six-player trade with Arizona on Wednesday, had a pair of singles in his Mariners debut.

Roenis Elias (2-3) went eight strong innings, allowing two runs and five hits in the loss for the Mariners — their sixth straight. Seattle had won six in a row against Tampa Bay.
