(AP) — The NHL's Eastern Conference semifinals have begun with victories by the Pittsburgh Penguins and Ottawa Senators.

Ottawa beat the Rangers 2-1 and the Capitals lost to Pittsburgh 3-2.

Tonight, Nashville is at St. Louis and Edmonton at Anaheim. The series openers were won by the Predators and the Ducks.
