Eli Morgan and the Yakima Valley Pippins bowled over the Victoria HarbourCats in West Coast League play by the score of 8-1 Tuesday night at Yakima County Stadium.

Eli Morgan notched his fifth straight win with a five-strikeout performance.

The HarbourCats struck first in the top of the second inning with a triple from Shawn Watkins, who later scored on Jake Lesinski's sacrifice fly to make it 1-0 HarbourCats.

In the second inning, Alex Guenette got the scoring going for the Pippins with an RBI single and then a safety squeeze bunt from Jake Roberts. That gave the Pippins a 2-1 lead. Guenette then got his second RBI of the night in the third on a sacrifice fly, putting the Pippins up 3-1.

Yakima's fourth inning was the back-breaker, though. Shawn Wardian extended his hitting streak to 12 games, Vince Fernandez and  Laz Villa both delivered RBI singles and thanks to a misjudgment and a throwing error, Shawn Wardian scored to make it 6-1 Pippins.

Yakima's final score came in the fifth, when Justin Jacob connected on an RBI double and a wild pitch. That made it 8-1 Pippins.

The win lifts the Pippins to 16-10 in West Coast League play, a game and a half of the Wenatchee AppleSox in the East Division.
