The Yakima Valley Pippins closed out the 2015 season on a high note, defeating the Wenatchee AppleSox, 4-3, at The Orchard in State Fair Park. 0

Yakima took advantage of four early Wenatchee errors and cashed them into four earned runs against AppleSox starter Hunter Wells. David Becker had a bases-loaded walk in the 1st, Reid Martinez and Jake Manson each brought a run home in the 3rd and a safety squeeze from Corey Morris capped the scoring for Yakima Valley.

The AppleSox (24-30) hung close the whole way, trailing 4-2 going to the 9th. A pair of miscues helped the AppleSox bring home one run and Wenatchee got the tying run to 2nd base with one out, but Ryan Lillie came on to close out the win for the Pippins.

The Pippins finished the 2015 season with a record of 29-25, good for second place in the West Coast League's East Division. With a two-year record of 64-44, the Pippins are the winningest of the six WCL expansion teams in their first two seasons of play. Numerous individual and team records were broken over the course of the 2015 season.

Season three of Pippins baseball is scheduled to begin early next summer. Season tickets are already available by going to PippinsBaseball.com, by calling 575-HITS or by visiting Hunky Shaw’s Team Shop downtown.
