YAKIMA, WA - Eight different players scored runs and four posted multi-hit efforts as the Yakima Valley Pippins cruised past the West Coast Guns, 9-3, on Tuesday night at Yakima County Stadium.

Kyle Stahl (Central Washington) led off the game with an infield single, scoring on an error from the West Coast Guns. The Pippins would add two more runs in the 3rd inning on another throwing error scoring Stahl plus one more 2-out RBI base hit from Jay Schuyler (San Diego).

Jens Jensen (Central Washington) threw four innings, striking out four while allowing one unearned run in his 9th start of the season. Drake Atlee (Cal State Northridge) entered out of the bullpen for a scoreless frame before Matt Fish (Lewis-Clark State) allowed two runs in relief.

Mikey Filia (UC Irvine) extended the lead, 7-1, on an RBI sacrifice fly in the 5th inning. Leading by four, 7-3, the Pippins put the game away for good in the 6th utilizing a 2-run rally. Christian Koss (UC Irvine) delivered an RBI single, while one more run scored on a sacrifice fly from Freddy Smith (Cal State Northridge), who leads the Yakima Valley Pippins in hits and RBI over the month of July.

Connor Lau (Central Washington) earned the win throwing two scoreless innings of relief, retiring six of the first seven men he faced, striking out two. Zach Haggett (Central Washington) closed out the final frame, improving the Pippins record to 2-1 in non-league games this season.

Both teams return to action Wednesday night at 7:05 p.m. for Dog Days of Summer at Yakima County Stadium as Josh Rios (Cal State Fullerton) will start for Yakima Valley. Fans can listen to the action live on 1460 ESPN Yakima, the official home for Pippins Baseball.
