A winter storm will bring more new snow to the White Pass Ski Area on Friday and Saturday. The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning and predicts more than 15 inches of snow Friday and Friday night, then another 3 to 5 inches of new snow on Saturday. The forecast calls for sunshine Sunday. Because of the heavy wet snow that has fallen since Wednesday, the avalanche danger is HIGH and the back country gates were closed Friday.
Meantime, if you love a good beer after some time on the slopes, Ten Pin Brewing Company out of Moses Lake is serving its fresh beer in the day lodge.
On Saturday, you're invited to a snowshoe adventure with White Pass General Manager Kevin McCarthy.
The ski area's website says you can explore the White Pass Nordic Center, where you'll encircle Leech Lake, traverse the Pacific Crest Trail and perhaps even visit a waterfall. Check-in is at 3:45 p.m. Saturday. You're welcome to use your own snowshoes or rent them at the pass. The cost is $49 per person. The fee includes snowshoes, tour and light appetizers.

And wear your school colors Saturday because it's Coug day.
