Seattle Mariners General Manager Jerry DiPoto made the club's first trade pre-trade deadline deal and acquired right-handed relief pitcher David Phelps of the Miami Marlins.

The 30 year-old Phelps, who previously pitched as a starter for the New York Yankees, has appeared in 44 games this season while throwing a total of 47 innings and maintains a 3.45 Earnie while striking out 51 batters and walking 21.

In exchange for the immediate bullpen assistance - and club control through the 2018 season - the M's gave up four minor league prospects including Outfielder Brayan Hernandez, 19, and right-handed pitchers Brandon Miller, 22, Pablo Lopez, 21, and Lukas Schiraldi, 23 (son of former big-leaguer Calvin Schiraldi).
