In a trade to hopefully boost offensive production in the middle of their line-up, the Seattle Mariners made a trade today for All-Star First Baseman Yonder Alonso of the Oakland A's.

Alonso, who will become a free agent at the end of this season, was acquired in exchange for Mariners farmhand outfielder Boog Powell.

The 30-year-old Cuban, who is also the brother-in-law of Baltimore Oriloes 3B Manny Machado,  is batting .266/.369/.527 with 22 home runs and 49 RBIs, and should help to bolster the team's offense from the left side of the plate. He will be reunited in splitting time at first with former A's teammate Danny Valencia.
