But did you know that there is even an earlier opening day for baseball? PlayStation will be releasing the new MLB The Show '24. This release is very special; because for the first time the game has a female-player mode. "Road to the Show; Women Pave Their Way."

This game mode is amazing for what it does! In the newly released trailer, they give a nod to Kelsie Whitmore, the first female player in an MLB partner league who played for the Staten Island FerryHawks as a pitcher and outfielder.

Whitmore has expressed her hopes to educate others about women's capabilities in baseball through a statement on the website. This project aims to showcase that women/girls do play baseball and are capable of competing at every level.

After reading about this game, I find this feature very interesting! For the first time, you can create and play as a female ballplayer. It develops a unique "Road to the Show" story that evolves throughout your player's career.

Mollie Braley, the game's narrative designer, revealed that Whitmore and other team members were heavily involved in the development of the story mode. The story was inspired by the real-life experiences of women who played the game.

This is especially fitting since it is International Women's Month. Braley believes that women have been making strides in the sport throughout history, citing legends like Toni Stone, who was one of the first women to play professional baseball.
