Mariners Rise to .500 in Spring With 7-6 Victory [VIDEO]

The Seattle Mariners raised their overall Cactus League record to the .500 mark for the first time during Spring Training Friday (March 19) night with a 7-6 come-from-behind win against the Chicago White Sox at the Peoria Sports Complex.
Seattle rallied from a 5-1 deficit after two innings of play before tacking on runs in the third and the fourth before tallying the go-ahead scores in a three-run fifth inning to raise their record to 7-7-5 this spring.

Reigning Rookie of the Year Kyle Lewis went 2-3 with two runs and two RBI including a base on balls. He also went yard for the first time in exhibition play with a two-out solo home run in the third inning off of White Sox starting pitcher Lance Lynn.

Lynn tossed 3 2/3 innings while surrendering three earned runs and striking out five en route to a no-decision. He also gave up six hits and walked one batter during his outing.

Mariners rookie sensation and top Major League Baseball prospect Jarred Kelenic made an impressive return after missing 10 days with a tweaked knee. Kelenic went two-for-three as well with a screaming double while scoring once and driving in a run as well.

Mariners starter Marco Gonzales went 4.2 innings to pick up the pitching victory and raise his record in Cactus League action to 1-0 while recording his first victory of the year.

Seattle  will face the Texas Rangers on Saturday (March 20) and visit the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday as they head into their final week of Spring Training before opening the 2021 regular season at home against the San Francisco Giants at T-Mobile Park.
