ESPN.com is reporting that Seattle Mariners left-handed pitcher Drew Smyly is suffering from a "soggy" arm after club's projected #4 starter was scratched from what was to be his final start of the spring scheduled for this Friday.

Smyly, 27, competed for Team USA in this year's recently completed World Baseball Classic and has complained recently of discomfort in his throwing arm.

Acquired in a trade with the Tampa Bay Rays this past offseason, Smyly is slated to pitch in his first regular-season game on Thursday, April 6th when the M's visit the Houston Astros.
