Two-time major champion Garbiñe Muguruza of Spain will face 21-year-old Sofia Kenin of the United States in the Australian Open women's final. Muguruza beat No. 4 Simona Halep 7-6 (8), 7-5. Muguruza is a former No. 1 who won the French Open in 2016 and Wimbledon in 2017. She is unseeded at a Grand Slam tournament for the first time in six years. Kenin reached her first Grand Slam final by upsetting No. 1 Ash Barty 7-6 (6), 7-5 in the semifinals. The 14th-seeded Kenin had never been past the fourth round at a major until now.
