Mr. IKE Raised $22,725 for local Children’s Miracle Network Programs
Since 1997, Eisenhower High School started something called Mr. IKE which has student volunteers who go out for charitable services to raise funds for Yakima's Memorial Foundation via Children's Miracle Network. These funds stay local and help the pediatrics unit, NICU, Children's Village and a host of others. These events include helping children with special needs in fun basketball games, volleyball, candy sales and any other ways they can raise money independently.
This year it was Ethan Gu who was crowned as Mr. IKE. Aside from the prestigious title he also received $1,000 for further education thanks to supporting sponsor Gesa Credit Union. Congrats, Ethan!
However, since this is all in effort for fundraising, everyone wins.
In the following years, other area high schools started their own Mr. [insert high school name here] to do exactly the same thing. All for fun and for the good of the kids and the community.
This year Eisenhower High School raised $22,725. That's huge!
Since this program began, Eisenhower has raised over $300,000 and, collectively, with the other high schools, the Yakima Valley has raised over 1.7 million dollars with these high school efforts.
A big congrats to all those involved in the Mr. Ike program for doing such a wonderful job leading up to the performances and pageant.
