What Is ‘Jeep Ducking’ & Has Yakima Embraced It?
My brother got a pretty sweet 1973 American Motors CJ5 Jeep when he was 18.
His jeep was a beautiful Orange color with a drawing of a little bear and the words “Sugar Bear” across the front under the windshield.
When I heard the term “Jeep Ducking” my brain went right back to the ride of my brother’s late teens and early 20’s.
To add to this thought of a jeep mascot or call sign, the song "Convoy” by C.W. McCall sprang into my head. Take a listen.
If a big rig driver had the call sign of “Rubber Duck” then maybe Jeep Ducking is just a form of naming.
The other thought that crossed my mind about the term Jeep Ducking, was literally ducking your head while you’re driving.
Like when you’re playing off road, going through mud puddles, climbing hills, you may instinctively “DUCK” out of obstacles.
It made sense to me, but nope, not being in Jeep Culture, I was way off!
What Is Jeep Ducking?
If you don’t know what the Jeep Ducking actually is, it is quite sweet.
It’s those rubber ducks that you see on the dashboards of people’s vehicles (jeeps).
“Ducksters” (a term I think I just made up) trade and gift ducks to one another.

Has Yakima Embraced Jeep Ducking?
Judging by how many jeeps I see driving around with bath toys in their windshields, I'd say so!
