Fire Truck Fun Day in Yakima Valley Coming Soon!
Have a little one curious about the world of being a firefighter? What about an adult who is just a big kid at heart and would love to see a fire engine up close and personal? You’re going to get your chance, coming up on October 11th, courtesy of Stein’s Ace Hardware and the West Valley Fire & Rescue!
Growing up, there were 3 careers I wanted to go into. Radio broadcasting, like my grandfather, a sanitation worker (like the garbage men who drove the big truck and picked up the trash and waved at me while I was watching from my Naches home living room window every Tuesday morning in the mid-80s), and a firefighter.
I thought they were so brave and some of the closest superheroes we have today (and I still do think that). And to a little kid, it didn’t hurt that they drove a big truck and got to hang out with a spotted dog (a Dalmatian).
Well, if you have a little one that shares the same interests as I did (and do), mark your calendars for Saturday, October 11th, from 10 am to 2 pm for the West Valley Fire Truck Visit!

You’ll be able to get up close and see how a real-life fire truck works and meet Sparky the Firedog!
The first 100 kids will get a plastic firefighter hat, and everyone can learn about fire safety and how to check to see if your fire alarm is still in good condition!
