Another day, another recall. At least, that's the way it seems after last week's recall announcement. This recall affected Treat Bars sold at Walmart stores in Washington, Oregon, and California due to possible contamination with listeria.

This recall issued by the FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) deals with the Scenic Fruit Company and various frozen fruit products. These products are sold nationwide at Trader Joe's and Costco locations in Washington, Oregon, Utah, Montana, Alaska, and Idaho. The fruit in question was also on shelves at some Aldi (Seattle Based Markets) stores and Vital Choice Seafood home delivery service.

The frozen fruit products are being recalled due to a risk of contamination with hepatitis A. At Costco stores, the frozen organic strawberries are sold under the Kirkland Signature brand, and with Trader Joe's, it's labeled under "Organic Tropical Fruit Blend."

Sicknesses Due To Outbreak:

The CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention) has confirmed three cases of hepatitis A infection (possibly two more) related to eating of the frozen strawberries. Hospitalization was required for two patients, but no deaths occurred due to the contamination.

Hepatitis A Symptoms:

Symptoms of Hepatitis A infections can include fever, fatigue, pain in your joints or abdomen, diarrhea, jaundice, dark urine, and can lead to liver disease. Symptoms usually last less than two months, but other cases have gone on for as long as six months.

The Scenic Fruit Company has commented that if you have consumed the recalled products, consult a healthcare professional, and if you are experiencing symptoms, see a doctor immediately.

The FDA investigation is still ongoing.
