This past Wednesday (10/1) saw the homecoming of one of Yakima's own brightest stars, Kyle MacLachlan, as he talked and entertained a packed crowd at the Yakima Capitol Theatre as part of their town hall series.

Kicking off its 53rd year of bringing fantastic guests from all corners of the globe and walks of life, for this event, they didn't have to search far, just opening up an Eisenhower High School 1977 yearbook, and getting the star of Dune, Blue Velvet, The Flintstones, and Twin Peaks to come back home for a fun mid-day chat.

Kyle shared his experience of his screen test for 1984's Dune, the anxiety and panic he had while delivering his line.

He then took us on a journey even further back to when he was a child, watching a western film inside the very same Capitol Theatre where we were all sitting, and how a scene in that movie filled him with the same anxiety, dread, and panic.

The split story showcased how he had faced those feelings his entire life, and how he was able to not just get through them, but use them to help better himself. With the encouragement from Director David Lynch, and a special quote from the book he'd loved since he was 15 (Dune), he pressed on with his screen test and his career.

"I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past, I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone, there will be nothing. Only I will remain."
- Frank Herbert's DUNE.

He shared stories about growing up in Yakima, playing at Gilbert Park, attending Eisenhower, and the University of Washington before taking the leap and following his passion for acting. He talked about director Steven Lynch and his numerous film and television projects and joked about his experience filming Sex and the City, The Doors, Showgirls, Twin Peaks: The Return (to name a few).

We got to hear the story behind his Wine business based out of Walla Walla, Washington, and how Steve Martin had a hand in helping decide on the name 'Pursued by Bear', and a little about his current and future projects, including FX's The Lowdown, Amazon's Fallout, and his Podcast "What Are We Even Doing?".

This was an amazing presentation, and a great homecoming surrounded by fans, friends, and family of Kyle MacLachlan.

Yakima's-Own Kyle MacLachlan is More Fashionable than Anyone in Hollywood

Yakima born and bred Kyle MacLachlan has been entertaining us in Hollywood from Dune to Twin Peaks to The Flintstones to Portlandia to hosting SNL and so much more. He has given Yakima shout outs in interviews, he's an avid golfer, has his own wine from Washington state and, in our opinion, is one of the most fashionable guys in Hollywood. Here's a few photos of the Eisenhower High School graduate doing what he might do best -- lookin' good.
