Yakima Says Thanks During Veterans Day Parade Saturday
Friday is a holiday for the city of Yakima as city offices will be closed for Veterans Day which is Saturday November 11 when the annual Veterans Day Parade will be held downtown.
THE HARMAN CENTER WILL BE CLOSED NO BUS SERVICE ON SATURDAY
City Hall, Y-PAC, and Parks and Recreation offices will all be closed. The Harman Center will be closed Friday and Saturday, Yakima Transit fixed-route buses, Dial-A-Ride and the Yakima-Ellensburg Commuter will all run as scheduled on Friday. No bus service will be available on Saturday.Lions Pool will be open Friday and the City’s Refuse Division will provide regular garbage collection services as scheduled Friday.
YOU CAN HONOR LOCAL VETERANS DURING THE ANNUAL PARADE SATURDAY
The annual Veterans Day parade, sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars - Post 379 kicks off at 10:45 am Saturday at the intersection of Yakima Avenue and 6th Street. The parade will continue west on Yakima Avenue to 6th Avenue. It's set to at 12:30 pm. Yakima Avenue will be closed to motorized traffic from 6th Avenue to 6th Street during the parade.
LOTS OF PEOPLE IN VEHICLES ARE INVOLVED IN THE PARADE
No parking will be allowed on Yakima Avenue between 6th Street and 6th Avenue from 8:45 am on November 11th until the parade is completed. 750 people and 50 vehicles are expected to be part of the parade.
