Meet Andres, our Children's Miracle Network Family of the Month!

Andres was diagnosed with DiGeorge Syndrome, a rare disorder caused when a small part of chromosome 22 is missing, at 1 week old. The deletion results in poor development of several body systems.

Because of the diagnosis, Andres was immunocompromised and needed to be completely isolated with no visitors.

His mom had to quit her job so she could care for him and homeschool her two daughters so germs wouldn't be brought home.

Right after discharge, the family was referred to Children's Village for physical therapies.

Through his treatment and therapy, the family also learned Andres would be deaf and hearing aids would not do much.

The speech therapy and help learning ASL has been vital to his development.

Andres was put on a waitlist for a thymus transplant when he was three.

The thymus transplant helps to boost immune systems.

Andres is now five years old, and his family has been through a lot. He and his family are grateful for the developmental stride he has made thanks to the efforts of staff, volunteers, pediatricians, and specialists at Children's Village.

The annual Children's Miracle Network Radiothon is coming up in October. Can we count on your support?

The Radiothon is supported by the Memorial Foundation and MultiCare Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.
