ROSS EXPECTS A 30% TURNOUT IN THE ELECTION
Yakima Auditor Charles Ross says so far 16.29% or 20,909 ballots have been sent to his office. He says the election result issued Tuesday night will "contain all countable ballots received up to Monday." Ballot counts will then be held every day after the election until the election is certified later this month.
IT'S A BUSY BALLOT DEPENDING ON WHERE YOU LIVE BUT FOR MOST IT'S A SHORT LIST
Ross says the ballot is full of municipal and school district races and voter propositions. It also contains 21 city council races, 5 mayoral races and 16 school board races. Two fire district commissioner races also appear on the ballot. Will you be voting on all those races and issues? No. Ross says depends upon where you live.
MANY PEOPLE FORGET TO SIGN THE BALLOT
Don't forget to sign your ballot. You don't need a stamp to drop it in the mail. Ballot drop boxes are located throughout the valley. In Yakima a drive-up drop box is located across the street from the Yakima County Courthouse on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
