Drivers in Yakima are being advised to fill up their tanks on Mondays, as gas prices are projected to rise throughout the week. According to a recent report from GasBuddy, average gasoline prices in the area have surged 14.3 cents in the last week, now averaging $3.76 per gallon. The increase follows a prior rise of 5.3 cents from the previous week.

STABLE PRICES FOR NOW BUT NOT IN WA STATE

Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy says "while some states have seen gas prices inching up, much of the country continues to see mostly stable prices. States that experience price cycling have seen increases, while many others have only experienced minor fluctuations."

MOVES BY TRUMP IMPACTING GAS PRICES

De Haan also mentions that current trade policies, with tariffs on Mexico and Canada on pause, have yet to significantly impact fuel prices. However, localized disruptions, particularly on the West Coast, are contributing to rising costs. A recent refinery fire and the transition to summer gasoline are exacerbating the situation, leading to higher prices in the region. "Elsewhere, volatility and seasonal trends continue to drive normal fluctuations. For now, the overall direction of gas prices remains typical for this time of year, but we remain on watch for potential policy changes that could impact fuel prices," De Haan added.
