Motorcycle Rider Killed in Crash on SR 410, Driver Arrested
A motorcycle rider was killed in a crash on State Route 410 Thursday and the suspect driver was arrested on a charge of vehicular homicide.
A THURSDAY NIGHT CRASH
According to a probable cause affidavit from the Yakima County Prosecutors Office Washington State Patrol Troopers were called to the crash at about 8:30 pm Thursday. When they arrived the suspect driver, identified as 33-year-old Reese Perkins was waiting at the scene as authorities were performing CPR and treating the victim motorcycle rider, Jason W. D. Timm. He was taken to Yakima Multicare Memorial Hospital where he died.

SO WHAT HAPPANED?
Perkins told authorities he had just left the Woodshed Restaurant and was driving westbound toward a campground where he had been staying for several days. He says he was turning left into the campground when he turned in front of the motorcycle causing the crash.
SUN IN HIS EYES
Perkins told Troopers the sun was in his eyes and that he didn't see the motorcycle until it was too late. But authorities say Perkins failed roadside sobriety tests and refused a breath test at the scene. He was arrested on a charge DUI and Vehicular Homicide. Perkins admitted he'd been drinking during the day in which he and friends were Jeeping on trails in the area.
The crash remains under investigation.
