If you love hiking AND you love visiting haunted things, then this hiking trail in Leavenworth, Washington, could be right up your creepy alley! Themandagies.com put together a list of the top creepiest places in Washington that are haunted and this Leavenworth trail caught my eye.
Have you been to the Iron Goat Trail before? It is a two and a half hour drive from Yakima and it’s located near a tunnel that residents say is haunted, too. The Iron Goat Trail is allegedly haunted by the deceased spirits of those who died in big avalanches of the past.
One of the stories about the Iron Goat Trail in Leavenworth is that a heavy avalanche killed at least 100 people who were onboard a train going through the tunnel near the Cascades. This was called the Great Wellington Avalanche of 1910.
I imagine those are the souls who are reportedly lurking about scaring people as they walk along the Iron Goat Trail.
FUN FACT: The Iron Goat Trail is close to the border of Washington and Oregon near Stevens Pass.
