The man simply known by his first name to baseball fans and non-fans alike - Ichiro - capped off three days of an affectionate return to his first ballclub by swatting a home run in what may have been his final plate appearance in SafeCo Field yesterday.

Suzuki, whose return to Seattle on Tuesday night was marked with an on-field pregame ceremony, delighted the 27,000-plus fans in attendance for a weekday game when he hit the first pitch delivered to him in the top of the 9th inning in what would be a 10-5 Mariners victory.

The crowd - who chanted his name as he approached home plate for the last time in the foreseeable future - cheered wildly as the ball sailed over outfielder Mitch Haniger's head and crept over the fence in right-center field adjacent to the 380-foot marker.
