‘Husky Classics in 60′ Features 2018 Apple Cup, Windermere Cup
In the absence of live sporting events, we will be re-broadcasting two classic University of Washington games from myriad seasons/sports in a condensed one-hour form, back-to-back, every Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
In this fifth of 10 weeks of re-broadcasts, we kickoff "Husky Classics" today with the 2018 Apple Cup held in a snowy Martin Stadium. It was the defacto Pac-12 North Division Championship. Wazzu, led by QB Gardner Minshew, had ascended to #7 in the national polls averaging over 40 points per game. They swore 2018 would be different.
Meanwhile, the Huskies had rebounded from a couple of October losses and sat just a game behind the Cougs heading into the regular season finale`. Husky Hall of Fame broadcaster Bob Rondeau had retired at the end of the previous football season leaving current play-by-play man Tony Castricone to call his first cross-state rivalry game.
In our second rebroadcast, we head to the Lake Washington Ship Canal near Portage Bay for the 2010 Windermere Cup for rowing.
