How active is your life? The YMCA Wants To Get You Off The Couch
It’s time for a community challenge to get you feeling great and it’s being launched by the Yakima YMCA.
HOW ABOUT 150 MINUTES OF ACTIVITY EACH WEEK?
Executive Director Bob Romero says it’s a free community wide healthy challenge with a focus on 150 minutes of activity each week. He says about 120 YMCA’s around the country are involved in the virtual programming challenge. The program focuses on healthy spirit, mind and body with great messages and encouragement relating to mental health as well as physical activity.
YOU CAN SIGN UP TODAY THROUGH A TEXT MESSAGE
Everyone in Yakima is welcome to be a part of the free community wide healthy challenge all you have to do is sign up. Your workouts and activities can all be done on your time and at your home. Romero says “in the midst of COVID-19 and all the negative issues we encounter, this will be uplifting. Registration is simple. It starts with a text message and from there people are connected.” All you have to do is text the word: STRONG to the number 844-889-6222.
THE CHALLENGE STARTS ON OCTOBER 18
Get signed up Today because the challenge starts on October 18 and it’ll keep you busy for five weeks. But YMCA officials are hoping it’ll launch you into a more active life that could extend your life and give you more pleasure as you grow older.
