Henson, Melgoza Lead Washington Women Past Colorado
BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — Mai-Loni Henson and Amber Melgoza each scored 17 points with eight rebounds and three assists apiece to lead Washington past Colorado 60-46 on Sunday.
The Huskies (9-18, 2-13 Pac-12) ended a 10-game losing streak. Their last win came on Jan. 11 when they beat Colorado 68-58 in Seattle.
Henson's 3-pointer gave the Huskies a 7-5 lead and started a 17-2 run from which the Lady Buffs couldn't recover. Henson added a 3-point play, Missy Peterson had a 3 during the run and the Huskies led 21-7 after the first quarter. Colorado shot 3 of 12 in the first quarter and committed 10 turnovers. Colorado finished with 22 turnovers that led to 28 points for Washington.
Washington also held Colorado to seven points in the closing quarter.
Emma Clarke led Colorado (12-15, 2-14) with 15 points. The Lady Buffs have lost three of their last four.
