Former Yakima Bears catcher David Ross has been tabbed as the new skipper of the Chicago Cubs following the dismissal of Joe Maddon.

Ross, a former 7th round pick by the Los Angeles Dodgers, spent the summer of 1998 in Yakima breaking in to pro ball in the Northwest League. He played 15 seasons in Major League Baseball for seven different teams.
