SEATTLE (AP) — A group of former University of Washington football players is raising money to put up a statue of former coach Don James outside Husky Stadium.

The players have so far raised roughly $70,000 in the effort and hope to raise another $80,000 by July. They have also set up a website DonJamesStatue.com where fans can contribute.

Organizers of the effort tell The Seattle Times the goal is to unveil the statue this fall and dedicate it during Washington's game against USC on November 12th

James was coach at Washington from 1975 to 1992 and is the school's winningest football coach, with his Huskies teams going to six Rose Bowls and sharing a national title in 1991. He died in 2013.
