Former No. 1 Withdraws From Tournament
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Just a week after failing to make the cut in his first PGA event in almost a year and a half, Tiger Woods had to withdraw from this week's Dubai Desert Classic. The winner of 14 major events is suffering from back spasms after shooting an opening-round 77.
Woods has been trying to make a comeback after multiple back surgeries, and was expected to play four times in five weeks, starting with last week's Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines, where he missed the cut.
