The National Hockey League's 32nd and newest franchise, the Seattle Kraken, are set to hit the ice against the Vegas Golden Knights on Tuesday (October 12) and the team's radio broadcaster will be making history when the puck drops.

Everett Fitzhugh, a native of "Hockeytown" Detroit, MI, will become the first-ever African-American play-by-play man in league history. We had the opportunity to talk with him about getting the call, what to expect from the team and what the refurbished Climate Pledge Arena will have to offer fans attending the games.

It is easy to tell by his sincerity and enthusiasm that Fitzhugh is beyond stoked to have NHL hockey in the Emerald City.

1460-AM ESPN Yakima will broadcast Kraken action all season long and, if a scheduling conflict occurs, will air on 1280-AM KIT in Central Washington.

We asked Everett Fitzhugh what it was like getting the call to be the first African-American radio broadcaster in NHL history.

Fitzhugh was very open and honest about growing up as a black person and being told that hockey wasn't for him.

Who are Kraken players to keep an eye on in their inaugural season?

Everett gave us his estimation on who had a good training camp and might be the first Seattle star that fans will gravitate towards.

What is the newly remodeled Climate Pledge Arena going to be like for Kraken fans attending?

The 32-year-old broadcaster said that the old Key Arena will be virtually unrecognizable and will be a first-class facility for hockey, basketball plus another major form of entertainment!

Fitzhugh is very active on social media and couldn't be more friendly. All Kraken fans should give him a follow on Twitter @TheVoiceFitz.

Here is our full, unedited interview with Mr. Fitzpatrick.
