In a video posted earlier this morning (May 12) at approximately 9:15 a.m. on the Yakima Public Schools Facebook page, a new scoreboard was being prepared for installation at Zaepfel Stadium on the campus of Eisenhower High School in Yakima.
According to the post, and as clearly observed in the video, the brand new electronic scoreboard was funded in full by Gesa Credit Union.

According to the narrator of said video, the new board will have the capability for video playback which will help in showing instant replays for both soccer and football as well as finish line footage in track events for photo finishes on Don Holder Track.

It was also speculated that this finishing piece to stadium will also have a positive economic impact on the city as the revamped field and track will be even more attractive for hosting state tournaments and other events that will bring fans and spectators into Yakima from around the state and the Pacific Northwest.

The scoreboard was the source of some controversy before ever even being installed. In an article in the Yakima Herald-Republic, dated November 8, 2019 by venerable sports columnist Scott Spruill, the city of Yakima initially rejected the scoreboard as it did not meet zoning codes.

In February, the city did an about face following an appeal filed by the Yakima School District and approved the new scoreboard according to an article penned by Phil Ferolito, also of the Yakima Herald-Republic.

The previous scoreboard had been in place since 1969.
