The Yakima Bears lost 6-3 to the Everett AquaSox Saturday night at Everett Memorial Stadium in Everett, Washington. Both teams had nine hits and one error, but the AquaSox put together a pair of three run innings.

The Bears took the early lead in the second inning with back-to-back RBI doubles from Danny Poma and Josh Parr. That lead lasted until the fifth inning, when Taylor Ard hit a three-run home run to put the AquaSox up 3-2. Michael Lang tied the game at 3-3 with a solo home run to lead off the seventh inning. In the eighth inning a walk was followed by four-straight singles and a bases-loaded hit batsman to score three runs for the AquaSox.

In his Northwest League debut Jose Martinez allowed three runs on four hits and five walks while fanning five batters in five innings. All of the runs came on a home run, which Martinez never allowed in over 70 innings in the Dominican Summer League before joining the Bears. The loss went on Austin Platt, who, after tossing two scoreless frames, allowed the first three batters in the eighth to reach and was then taken out of the game. Victor Acosta allowed two of the runners inherited from Platt to score. Acosta then went on to start a 1-2-3 double play and then a strikeout to finish the eighth.

Kevin Medrano led the Bears offensively, going 2-for-4 with a double. Josh Parr, Mark Ginther, and Danny Poma also hit doubles, while Lang had the home run. The Bears had a total of five extra-base hits, while the AquaSox had only one, but six Everett batters reached on walks and three of those scored.

The five-game series in Everett has been decided, with the AquaSox winning three of the first four games. The rubber match is scheduled for 1:05 Sunday at Everett Memorial Stadium. Left-handed pitcher Alex Carreras of the Bears goes against right-handed pitcher Dylan Unsworth of the AquaSox in a matchup of two of the best in the Northwest League.
