The Yakima Bears lost to the Tri-City Dust Devils 3-2 Sunday at Gesa Stadium in Pasco, Washington. The Bears lost two out of three games on the road trip and the team has now lost three-straight series.

The Bears took the initial lead in the first inning, as Josh Parr hit a double and then scored when Joe Loftus reached on an error by the Dust Devils first baseman. Tri-City used a double and two singles to produce two runs in the second, taking the lead 2-1. Both teams scored in the sixth, with Joe Loftus hit a solo home run to tie the game in the top of the inning. The Dust Devils took the lead for good in the bottom of the sixth inning, as a bases loaded, infield single scored the go-ahead run.

The Bears got good pitching and defense in the losing effort. Bears starter Austin Platt had a quality start, spreading out 10 hits and two walks to allow only three runs in six innings of work. Platt got plenty of help from his infield, as the Bears turned five double plays on the night, just one shy of tying the Northwest League record of six. Behind Platt, Will Locante tossed a scoreless seventh in his Northwest League debut and Jose Jose lowered his ERA on the season to 1.09 with a shutout eighth inning.

The Bears were outhit 11-6 in the losing effort. Josh Parr went 2-for-4 with his team-leading eleventh double and Joe Loftus went 2-for-4, including his third home run of the year.

The Bears return to Yakima County Stadium for the start of a five-game homestand Monday, with all five games against the Eugene Emeralds. Monday’s start time is scheduled for 7:05. Right-handed pitcher Blake Perry of the Bears is expected to start against right-handed pitcher Will Scott of the Emeralds.
