One of Yakima's hospitals will close at the end of this month. According to a news release, Astria Health is closing Astria Regional Medical Center after the U.S. Bankruptcy Court Eastern District of Washington gave the go-ahead to close during a Wednesday hearing. The news release says the organization has lost some $40 million since buying the hospital in 2017.
All operations will close within the next two weeks.
Two of Astria's other hospitals in Toppenish and Sunnyside will remain open.

According to the news release, the company will work with the hospital's 463 employees to help them find other jobs.
"Astria Health will ensure Astria Regional Medical Center hospital patients are transitioned smoothly to either other Astria Health Hospitals or other facilities as appropriate. Astria Regional Medical Center patients’ medical records will be made available by calling (509) 576-3749, or faxing a request to (509) 575-5244 or, over the next 30 days,through the Medical Records Department at the hospital located at 110 S. Ninth Ave., Yakima."
