As the Yakima Valley Pippins prepare for their second season at Yakima County Stadium, the team has announced the signing of their first two players for 2015.

Indiana State players Taylor Steen and Tyler Friis were signed Tuesday to contracts for next season, according to a release issued Thursday by the Pippins.

"I am very excited to begin our relationship with Indiana State University and welcome two of their top players for the 2015 season,” Pippins Manager Marcus McKimmy said in the release. “Both will be integral parts of our lineup on opening day."

Steen, a North Dakota native, is a left-handed catcher in his junior year at Indiana State, while Friis is a shortstop from Auburn. Friis is in his first year at Indiana State.

The Pippins begin their 2015 season on June 5.
