The Yakima Valley Pippins dropped their second straight game against the Walla Walla Sweets in front of 1,360 fans at Yakima County Stadium, losing 10-4 Tuesday night.

Walla Walla got off to a fast start thanks to the bats of Mike Polson and Jordan Frabasilio, who both delivered RBI singles in the first inning and put the Sweets up 2-0.

But the Sweets weren't done. And they heated up even more in the third inning, scoring five runs, highlighted by an RBI double by Kyle Nixon and an RBI single by Sean Bouchard. That made it 7-0 Sweets.

Nixon and Bouchard each delivered RBIs to give the Sweets a 9-0 lead after six and half innings.

The Pippins finally showed some life in the bottom of the seventh. They scored four runs, with Alex Guenette hitting an RBI single and Laz Villa scoring on a wild pitch. Walla Walla scored one more time in the ninth, bringing the final score to 10-4 Walla Walla.

The loss drops the Pippins to 12-8 and raises the Sweets to 8-12 in league play. The two teams begin another three-game series in Walla Walla on Thursday.

Meantime, look for more fireworks during and after tonight's game with the Pippins and Sweets at County Stadium. A free Fourth of July fireworks show begins following the last out.
