"Believe or not, we have some Fridays coming up that we can't send full crews of 5 [referees] for varsity games and [can] only send 4. Athletic Directors, coaches and fans don't like this but it's the reality right now." - Craig Lacy, Yakima Valley Football Officials Association Board Member

The Yakima Valley Football Officials Association (YVFOA) is looking for fresh recruits to continue to provide a great service to the local football scene in the Yakima Valley. They cover games from Sunnyside to Kittitas to Cle Elum and everywhere in between.

If you, or someone you know, loves the game of football, what better way to give back than to officiate?

Here is what you can expect by becoming an official:
● BEST SEATS IN THE HOUSE
There is not better place to be than on the field. Officials are right there in the trenches.
● STAY CONNECTED
If you played in the past, this would give you a chance to stay in the game.
● NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY
You don’t have to be an “expert” of the game. They will teach you the rules and the mechanics of being a quality official.
● COMPENSATION
Between Grid Kid games, junior high and high school sub-varsity games, you can earn as much or as little as you want. Pay ranges from $30 to $48 per game plus mileage.

Meetings begin tonight (July 23) and run weekly until the season begins in September.
Meetings will provide the training you need to do the job and take place in the Davis High School cafeteria from 6:15 - 8:30 p.m. for new officials as the first hour is devoted to training.
